Title: DNS-320 ftp server: user management
Post by: gfadel on May 29, 2012, 03:16:31 PM
Hello,

I have configured my DNS-320 ftp server, and it works fine. But when creating a new user, I cannot restrict his access to some folders only.

During the user setup, it only shows my Volume_1, and I can select read only or read/write access, but to ehe entire volume.

I would like to restrict some users to few folders access. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Gustavo

Gustavo,

I don't know if it applies here but I ran into a similar problem when I wanted to share folders on my drives. All I saw was volume_1. I had to double click on “Volume_1” to open the directory tree under it and place check marks next to the folders I wanted to share. Easy, but not obvious.

Have you tried double clicking on Volume_1 to see if that gives you access to your individual ftp folders?

Yes, you're right. The key to my issue was to define new share folders. Thanks.

NOw my problem is partially solved, since I can specify the folders a user can access. But for whatever reason, the user can still go out of his "universe", and access the ftp root.

Any idea how to "lock" a user inside its allowed folders?
