Hello,
I had purchased a new D-Link router this past winter and it has been working fine. Ever since my sister got a Kindle Fire, I noticed that I would lose my internet connection on my PC.After this happened numerous times, I found that it was my sister's Kindle that was causing the dropped connection.
After researching how to prioritize traffic, I found a few articles about QOS. With the DIR-645 router, I am unable to prioritize by mac address, but I can by IP. I set up a DHCP reservation for the Kindle's IP address so that it will not change. Once I did that, I went into the QOS Engine and set the IP range and set the Queue ID to the lowest setting. I set the Protocol and Port to ALL. After saving the settings and performing the necessary restart of the router, I tested the set up. It did not work. I was able to surf the internet on my PC until my sister went onto Netflix from her Kindle.
I do not think I set up the QOS correctly. This is a problem, because the Kindle does not allow the other computers in the house to connect.
How do I properly set up QOS on my D-Link DIR-645 router and put the Kindle or Netflix at a lower priority?

Did you input your PC as well into QoS and set a higher priority?
There is a QoS sticky regarding setup and use with XBL however is a good example of how QoS for PCs as well located in the FAQ Library (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?board=304.0).
Ensure when setting priorities that you should set your PC to 1 and her Kindle to 4.

I set up DHCP reservation for my computer and set QoS to the highest priority. I am still experiencing the same issue. Does the computer's IP need to be within a range? For example if the computer's IP is 2 does the IP range need to be 1 - 3 or can it be 2 and 2?

Can be with in the range or specific 2 to 2.
So if you put the Kindle in the QoS, input a specific TO range using the IP address the Kindle gets using one rule.
Then input a separate rule and range for your PC and input a specific range using the IP address your PC gets.
Set the Kindles priority to LOW and your PC to HIGH. Should work.
