So thinking of fathers day I had to think about the last fathers day present which is in my garage. it worked fine when I gave it to my father but not sure what he did to it to kill it.
Now when it is plugged in the optical light flashes and no other light on the fron lights up nor do any of the buttons work. I do have a remote though!
Any ideas what it might be or just scrap it?
Thanks

You can try resetting the DNS-320 to the factory default settings. While the DNS-320 is powered-up, insert a paper clip in the recessed reset button on the rear of the unit for 10 seconds.
Please keep in mind that the DNS-320 was discontinued by D-Link US during January 2009.

Have you heard of this issue before? How long should it take to reset under normal conditions? :-( I will be sad to see it go on craigslist and be picked up in 10 minutes since it was not even used that much. (By me)

It's possible that the firmware is corrupt. The process should take 10 seconds + reboot time.

I held it in for 10 seconds and left it plugged in. No dice. :-(

One more thing to try. Unplug the unit, hold down the reset button, and plug-in the unit while still holding in the reset button. Wait 10 seconds as before.

If my last recommended procedure doesn't work, you may be facing a hardware issue. Amending my earlier comment, the DSM-320RD was actually discontinued in D-Link USA on November, 1, 2008.
