Title: Fan control settings

Hi, I was wondering what were the pre-set controls for the fan, i.e. at what temperature does the fan start running?  Are there various speeds, a Off/Med/High modes?

My unit temperature usually is at about 43-44C and the fan is always off.

I have a similar question - lately my DNS-323 has the fan running when I get up in the morning and obvisouly both HDs are off for the evening.  Why does the fan appear to be stuck in the on position?  I can reboot the DNS-323 and the fan stays off until the next occurence.  The fans on the PC are louder so I don't recognize the thing has the fan on until early am.  It used to shut the fan off (if it ever even ran).

Any one know how you can set it for a time period of a temp?

Mine is around 43 degrees also, and the fan is always off... Is there any way to turn it on? Or Is 43 degrees and acceptable temperature for a harddrive?

I read temperatures using the command "temperature g 0".  You must have the fun_plug environment installed so you can login via telnet or ssh, though.

You can of course use the web interface and see temperature on the STATUS page. :)

I have the same problem with the new 1.08 beta fireware, suddenly the fans goes on max ~7000rpm, then if i login to the webpage and change fan control settings to something else and back to auto (off/low/high) it stops and after a short while it goes to 2700, the temp is around 45 and my hdd temps 35 and 45, guess its some kind of bug that triggers the fan to goto max :(

44-45 degrees is too cool for this setting it is not yet at the proper temperature to turn on the fans. They should kick on at about 46 or 47 I believe. If you want them to be on at this temperature use the Low/High setting.
