Title: First time Install - Firmware Upgrade

First time install Noob question -- Can you upgrade the firmware before you install the drives?
(ie upgrade to latest version 1.02 b5 and then format raid 1/EXT3)

Yes, a hard drive is not required to perform a fw upgrade.
