HI.
Iv got an "old" dir 655 laying around as my secondary router and found out it had an USB slot for shareport.
In another room of the house Iv got a media center and an Usb printer. Can I use this dir 655 as a wireless bridge from my main router, so the mediacenter and the printer can be connected? So both low level streaming and shared printer with shareport.
And if so, does anyone have a guide?
Or do you need to be conected directly to the dir 655 to use the usb and shareport?

Thanks.
But I was after a wireless bridge, this seems to be cabled between the routers.

Wireless bridge is not supported on this router. Only way is to use the sticky.

Ok.
To alter the question.
If I want to use shareport on that router for an USB printer. Do I need to be directly connected to the routers wirelessly, or is it enogh that the routers is connected somehow to my LAN somewhere?

I believe that if you connect the printer to the USB port on the router your trying to use as an AP, it should work, however, after turning it into an AP, will need to be wired to the host router via LAN cable.
Host router><Client PCs
><wired to 655 thats turn into an AP<USB connection from 655 to printer.

Yep.
But Iv got this setup:
Main router----wireless birdge---- my 2. router.
So I was thinking to connect the dir 655 to my 2. router with cable. So the dir 655 wil not itself be a wireless bridge, but connected to one.
Think it wil be good? :)

Should work well for you. I have my DIR-645 connected the same way to my DIR-825 at the moment.

Shareport can be real finicky to use as a "stable" printer. You will likely be better off buying a new wireless printer that can be shared over wireless.
Some folks have decent luck with shareport, while others like myself have had such mixed results as to render shareport useless because it refuses to be stable.

Another thing to do for people using USB printers or printers with WiFi and USB, and if the printer doesn't come with a LAN port connection, get a USB to LAN converter or on of HPs Jet Direct boxes (3700) that takes USB printer connection and makes it a LAN cable wired connection so you can just use an IP address to connect to the printer from any PC or device. ;)

Hello Again furrynutz.
As you said it worked good even when connected as AP with printing.
My printer is an Lexmark x340 doh, and I cant seem to scan. Iv installed the MFP , but I get the error that the printer dont support scanning.
Do I need to install some lexmark software in addition, or what to do?

Might have to install the Mfrs SW. I would contact the Mfr of the MFP and ask or review the user manual for it.
