Title: Viera wifi not seen
Post by: fleurymd on June 30, 2012, 09:42:44 AM
Hi, I have a desktop and DIR-655 router upstairs [small house]. Downstairs I have a laptop and a new Panasonic Viera tv with built in wifi. Panasonic's instructions are simple and suggest a click on the remote and the tv will be recognized. It has not happened. Error message states no connection to the router. My laptop is 5ft away and the signal is strong.
Please...what am I missing? Do I need to configure the router to pickup a new piece of equipment? If so how?
Thank you for any help.

Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N? Setup/Wireless/Manual
Need to find out what wireless modes and security is supported by the TV. If your LT is seeing the router and the TV isn't, might be faulty wireless module on TV.

Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only. Setup/Wireless/Manual

What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto. Setup/Wireless/Manual
Also can turn of security temporarily to test to see if TV can connect.

Thanks FurryN.
But I lost my laptop with those changes and did not connect to the tv.
Please indulge a naive question. If the tv manual advises to plugin and click a button to engage wifi. I am assuming there is no configuration to prepare for the connection. But I would have thought there would be some configuration to alert the router??
I would love to run an ethernet cable to the tv but walls/floors are an issue.

You may have to enable the wireless first, then look for a menu item on the TV to imput your wireless settings.
