Title: Shareport /TWAIN error
Post by: Unity on April 07, 2009, 02:11:52 PM
Folks,

Did anybody see error (below) when  Shareport starts?

Unable to load or find: TWAIN_32.dll

Any thoughts?  ::)

Thanks!

TWAIN is usually used for scanners that do not have their own specialized drivers.   I gues the scanner / multi function unit is not compatible when connected to the Shareport.

I get the same error on my Vista laptop, and the file is located in the Windows\System32 folder.  My wife's Vista laptop has the file in her Windows folder, and she doesn't get the error.

I thought maybe moving the file to the Windows folder might work, but you can't just move a dll.  I've tried unregistering it, but it throws an error.  I haven't tried booting into safe mode and trying it that way yet though.

Any other ideas on how to move or other fixes for this error?

I had that same problem.  Here is what worked for me.

1.  Install Shareport ( I am using version 1.15 for use with my 1.21 firmware)---you can download that version on the internet.

2. Install your scanner drivers on the computer you will be using.

3.  Connect your scanner.

4.  Start Shareport (I am using version 1.15).  It should find the scanner. It will say something like "Your scanner is available for uses."

5.  CLICK ON THAT MESSAGE.  You will get a little drop down menu that will let you scan from there, but you should also---at least, I can---use my regular scanning software.

6.  If the above doesn't work at first, make sure you reboot your computer and/or unplug and re-plug in the scanner to the router.  Sometimes it takes a few tries before things are talking to each other.

Hope this helps.
