an internal DNS function?

Since DNS comes from external sources and from ISPs, i would presume that no. You can specify what DNS to use on the router however DNS is a external source is very vast in information and data. ::)

I think what he meant was if he could have the router manage a DNS zone to resolve hosts on his internal network. An easy solution would be a cheap Linux box. I would personally recommend something inexpensive such as a Raspberry Pi that only costs around $35 plus a usb micro charger and an SD card if that's all that he needs.

Thanks that is what I what is was looking for. My previous router from another company had customer firmware that included an internal DNS function for resolving names on my LAN. That is the function I miss that is not on my DIR-655.

I might call DLink and ask if and which model router they have that has this internal DNS function for the LAN side. From my experiences with several DIR models, I haven't seen this on any of these model routers. Let us know if you find out anything from DLink.
