I have the dlink dir-615 vers B model. I cant find the firmware update from Dlink so does this mean its outdated and an upgrade in routers is in the future? The only reason I am asking is that youtube videos are sluggish as well as laggy xbox play. My wife cant surf the web in the laptop or iphone while im on xbox live or it will lag. I have called my cable company and they said my speeds can handle it all.
Here are some answers to the questions i know you will ask.
Is this query in regards to a DIR-615 model router? yes
Need some information on the router please...
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router. b2
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status. 2.25, 2008/05/16
What region are you located? Oklahoma City, OK
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL? Cox Cable
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router? stand alone
What ISP Modem make and model do you have? motorola docsis 3.0
QoS is on, DNS nothing is running, mixed G and N, transmission rate is auto, WPA personal, AES.
I hope this answers alot. I know its an old router but why would dlink not have a firmware for my model of B2?
Thank you

Your router has the most up to date version for Rev B routers. From what I can tell, there isn't going to be any more updates for Rev B routers. There are currently Rev E and I routers.
Does your router and QoS rules or just enable or disable?
If it has additional QoS rules, review the Gaming, Gamefuel for XBL in the FAQ Library (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?board=302.0)
What is your ISP speed up and down that you pay for?
The motorola modem shouldn't be an issue unless the ISP signal going to the modem is low. Using any TV line splitters by chance?
If the 615 doesn't have the additional QoS rules for configuration, then maybe time to get into a different DIR series router, I recommend a DIR-655, 825, 645, or 857. I have each one of these routers and they work well. I also have 3x DGL-4500s which still rocks for gaming.

cable modem is a motorola docsis 3.0 surfboard 6120
so as you can tell it looks about all the same. My internet is cox my tv is direct tv so they do not interfere w/ one another.
QoS rules have enable and allow me to choose broadband cable. I will modify my router to the ones from your "buddy" in the wifi section of xbl. I hope these will make it perform better. ill let u know.

Are you wired or wireless when testing speed? Only wired is recommended when testing speed. Too many variables on wireless that prevent accurate speed results.
Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using Link> teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) if your interested. Its safe and secure.

wired from a hardwired PC. from speedtest.net
I made the changes to my router and for the QoS it has
Enable QoS engine: yes
Auto uplink speed: yes
Measure uplink speed: 3186 kps

Connection type : cable or other broadband network
Detected xdsl or other: No
I also went step by step with the guide of your buddy under wifi for gaming since my xbox is in anotehr room and on wifi. it is a slim

u are more than welcome to take a peak at my settings using that. also beta code? ultimately my router is working so no need up update the firmware? correct.

There is no beta code at this time.
You have the latest and greatest FW available.
And you de-select automatic uplink and input say 4096 or select one of the presets?
I might need to have a look.
