hello, hardware a1 and firmware version 1.02
yup xbox live party chat, i can't host anymore because i didn't know the 1.02 was the stable router was. and now i'm stuck with people not joining my game and party chat. i'm using different dns than my isp provider. beccause the web loads fast. but i can't control what my isp speed gives me.
is there someone that can teamview my router. sorry i only have to do this in wireless connection.
-
Was it working before?
What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
Might review the following:
DGL-4500 Gaming and Gamefuel for XBL. (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=10435.0)
Send me a PM if you need more help.
-
hmmm before we get into this deep, i'll have someone look at my antenna if it's set in PPPoE or DHCP.
-
antenna?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
Double NAT (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm)
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.
If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

here is my antenna, http://www.wirelessunits.com/motorola-2400-sm.php
i don't know if that antenna is built in or not.
here is my the device info

Ya, wireless ISP huh? Hmm, not the greatest for gaming I must say. Preferred is wired Cable or DSL.
From the looks of yoru IP address on the WAN, your getting a Private IP address from the ISP Modem/Antenna. Not sure if your ISP allows bridging or that modem supports it.
Does the modem have a management pages? If it does, I would try to see if it has a DMZ option, and input the 4500s' IP address of .1.3 into the DMZ on the modem, if it has this option.
Right now your probably dealing with double NAT situation.
-
yup, but i don't see why my friend has the same isp same antenna but he is using a low end router with gaming turned on. why is he able to host party chat and host games. me i'm not able to do those. oh yea i don't have access to the antenna, i'm not sure if they would give me the password.
-
I would contact your ISP and tell them what is going on that ask them if the modem has a DMZ option that you can use to input the 4500s IP address into. Tell them that you are encountering double NAT. Ask them if there is any way to get a public IP address ON the router and not a private one.
What model router does your buddy have?
What are your NAT settings on the 4500 currently?
-
both are Endpoint Independent and Enable SPI unchecked.
i forgot what router he was using.
-
Well, I can have a looksee if you want me too on teamviewer.
I would still contact the ISP and see if you can get an public IP address on the router.
-
pm sent
-
yup he was using a dir-615, do you know anything about this router
-
Ya, depends on what Rev he has, some 615s don't have any additional QoS rules and have only a basic UI to enable it ON or OFF and thats it.
-
how to turn on bridge mode on this router?
-
Bridge mode is not supported on any DGL series router nor does it have the functions.
-
i was able to bridge my 4500, but only 1 device was able to connect. it was probably the canopy had pppoe connection. it doesn't have dhcp setup. it's funny how i was able to connect to the canopy page, without direct line to it.
yup used internet explorer and view menu and no style.

is this the router mac address?0a-00-3e-25-f4-be
should i put that in the manual configure setup in dlink router
-
Seems like if your wanting to turn the 4500 into and AP, this is the best option to use:
Turning a router into an AP. (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0)
-
ok, i got public ip now. i can host, but i'm lagging so i should turn on GF right?
-
Yes, lets try GF ON now...
How did you get Public IP address ?
-
i had a tech from local looked at it. he went into the canopy and changed some settings. my router is now connected using PPPoE connection. i'm going to try GF later and see if the lag disappears.
-
Ok should only need to turn it back on. Just use the same rules I helped you put in. Hope it works.
;)

my mtu is set to 1492 should i set it to 1500, the voice is cutting on and off. or his network is high traffic.
-
Ask ur isp what mtu should be.
-
nevermind, i am such a noob sometimes, PPPoE can't be set to 1500.
