Title: DSL-2750B doesnt show Transceiver Statistics
Post by: glnz on July 20, 2012, 12:05:13 PM
The new DSL-2750B I just received seems pretty nifty but does not show Transceiver Statistics like Downstream and Upstream Margin, Attenuation or Transmit Power.  It also doesn't show clearly whether my DSL signal is Fastpacket or Interleaved.  I may be wrong, but maybe it also doesn't show whether my flavor of DSL is ADSL2+ (good) or G.dmt (old, man).

WHEN WILL THE SOFTWARE BE UPGRADED TO SHOW THIS VERY IMPORTANT, BASIC INFORMATION?

I had been checking this for years on my prior, much worse modem, a Westell 7500.  Hey, D-Link, wha' happened?

What Hardware version is your modem? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?

I copied this from the label before I started hooking it up:
HW: T1
Shipped Firmware Version:  VZ_1.42

The embedded web site says:
Software Version:     5.4.12.1.44

In System Information, there is this:
Software Version:   5.4.12.1.44
Release Date:   Feb 19 2012
Platform:   D-Link DSL-2750B Board
Tag:   Ntag-5_4_12_1_44
Compilation Flags:   LIC=/home/bat/bat/dlink_bcm96328_5_4_12_1/20120219_1343/conf/jpkg_bcm9636x_dlink.lic CONFIG_RG_PROD_IMG=y DIST=DLINK_DSL2750B

I'm in New York City, NY.

What do you think?  Thanks.

PS - By the way, I did not see a "Status" tab.

I would contact DLink, maybe level 2 and ask. I don't see any new FW. There is for the 2740 however nothing for your model. Let us know what they say. Where did you get this modem from? Just curious.  ::)

Furry - From Verizon earlier this week, to replace their Westell 7500 that might be the cause of a degraded DSL signal.

How do I contact level 2?  This is my first time working with D-Link equipment.

Thanks.

Ok this is a ISP supplied Modem so the ISP might be handling the FW. Why I see VZ_1.42. VZ means Verizon. Even though DLink built the HW, VZ is probably responsible for handling of the FW. Calling DLink probably won't result in any thing. You can try try though. I would call the main support lines and see if you can get to level 2 from there. The support site for this modem is currently not working and I've advised my contacts of it. I would also contact Verizon and talk to them about the features. This maybe the reason why you don't see some of the features in a VZ modem like you would with a modem with DLink developed FW. If you can't get any thing from VZ and since this is a DLink product, I would go out and get a retail DLink DSL modem at a store or online e-tailer and use it and return the VZ one if Verizon supports bringing your own modem. Not sure what there policy is. Check with them before buying. Let us know what you find out.

See if VZ supports this modem:

Furry - thanks.  Vz supplied the 2750-B and will never buy me a different modem.  But the model you suggest DOES report these statistics (per its user manual).  Did Vz direct D-Link to leave this info off from the 2750-B?

Please Reply back here when your contacts at D-Link get the 2750-B support site running.  What is its URL?

Also please let me know if you hear anything further.  Thanks.

Yes, VZ wont buy you a different modem. Thats your responsibility if you want to buy your own and if they support or allow something like the 2740 on there system. I have my own modem and enjoy the flexibility of that aspect. I'm on Cable here. It also avoids rental fees some ISP charge customers.  :o

The link to the 2750 is:
http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutions/search?q=dsl-2750 (http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutions/search?q=dsl-2750)

I'll let people know when they fix it.

There is probably some form of agreement or something between VZ and DLink where they develop custom FW for specific ISPs and needs. What all goes on in that agreement is probably confidential and we'll never know.  ::)

This model also does NOT show what flavor of ADSL is operating.  It does NOT show whether I am using ADSL, ADSL2 or ADSL2+.

Is Verizon trying to hide this information?

Again, they would be the ones to have this information.
I personally would get your own DSL modem and return the ISP modem. IF you want more information and features, a retail modem will probably be best for you.
