Title: What's the Button?

OK, so my 655 is working fine, and I recommended it to a friend who's very happy with it too. But he's pointed out that there is an unmarked, square button on the side (top) of the router, in the black band that runs around the case. There's nothing in the manual about it.

Anyone know what it is, or what it's for? It clicks when you push it, but I can't see that it does anything....

Just wondering.

Actually with the latest firmware, the WPS button does work, however, you need a WPS capable client adapter.

hope this helps.

WPS - Wi-Fi Protect Setup, YES its actually a certification through Wi-Fi


It provides a simplier way on how to connect a device (wireless) to your network. It offers PIN method and Push Button.

PIN, if you look in the bottom of the router they have a PIN number.
-If your wirless adapters supports PIN method it should allow you to enter this number into the it's wireless utility.
-If Im not mistaken this method is also supported through Vista by going through their wizard (cant remember what its called off the top of my head)


Push Button, this is the button located on the side of the unit.
-If your wireless adapter supports this method you should have the ability to push a virtual button (have not seen a physical button on a adapter yet) through its wireless utility

so then...... doesn't the PS3 support this?

so like i push the button, and it makes itself detectable? such as bluetooth or wat??

To my knowledge it only works with D-Link devices currently. No, theres a little more involvement then just a simple "discovery" process.
