Title: Does anyones DIR-825 overheat or need constant rebooting?
Post by: yuppicide on July 25, 2012, 08:47:06 PM
I posted a topic here about considering the 825.. but then I went into the forum for beta firmware or whatever and noticed people talking in there about having to reboot every day.. or every few days.

I don't plan on using beta firmware, and don't know if that is what they are using.

How is D-Link tech support if you ever need them? Some people in there slamming their tech support. I've never tried Netgear tech support, but can't stand their forums. There seems like one major guy who answers over there.. but he's Japanese or something, so I don't totally understand what he's trying to say sometimes.

I've had 3 different versions of FW on my 825 and have never seen any reboots. Some of these problems are caused by incorrect configurations and eternal environment conditions. Current release FW on the web site is stable and working well.

I've heard mixed results from users dealing with customer support. I would recommend coming here to the forums initially with any problems or questions, we try to help everyone out as much as possible. When all troubleshooting has been exhausted, then we'll recommend contacting Dlink support directly from there. I know the guy who your talking about. I try not to be like him.  ;D I'm just here to help out as best as I can. I hope I'm a bit more understanding in how I come across to people here.  ::)

Thanks again. I replied in the other post I picked one up for $63 new. Can't wait.

In the past I've owned Linksys had no problems with the unit or tech support. I did have one that seemed to die on me once and I had to replace it.

I think this will be my first D-Link router I've ever owned. Not so sure I'd ever go Netgear again because of my experience, but that might just be due to my Western Digital device.
