Title: dhcp reservations
Post by: tjohnson_nb on July 31, 2012, 04:55:14 PM
Just installed a DIR-615, not impressed so far :(

I have 3 clients, a Windoze 7 laptop, a Kubuntu workstation (wireless N) and a wireless HP printer. When I enable DHCP reservations and reserve the addresses then save settings the router reboots and when I go back in all info is gone and nothing is reserved.

I have been having weird disconnection issues - I lose my internet periodically for no apparent reason so I increased the lease time and am trying to reserve addresses.

H/W version l1
F/W version 9.00NA

What browser are you using? Try FF or Opera? IF your using IE 8 or 9, try using compatibility mode.

I was using FF and Chrome on Win7 and Linux but after your reply I tried IE on Win7 and it worked - thank you. Any idea why my Linux box would periodically drop it's connection and then ask for the network key to connect again? I never had that problem with previous router.

Some things to try:
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Not sure why Linux would drop a connection. Ensure the drivers are up to date for the NIC.
