320 w/two-3's, everything was working fine.
Installed new Brother wireless multi-function printer.
Suspect that it messed with my router settings.
I can see the Sharecenter via browser...just can't map the drives.
Printer is working fine.
Have trouble finding my rear with both hands...so type your suggestions slowly.
Thanks!

Tried mapping drives from windows, selecting network places and right clicking and select map network drives?
-
Did you use this mapping? \\[IP_ADDRESS_OF_DNS-320]\Volume_1
-
Yes - Thanks,
Tried to map the drives to the network...Volumes show up as choices, but get an error message that says something like: "check the spelling of the name, Otherwise something may be wrong with your network..."
Tried to type in: \\<<the IP address>>\Volume_1" (I used the IP address that works through my browser), but I get the same error message.
I think that the pribter install messed up my router settings...but I can't remember how I did the whole open port 80....maybe it's closed now...or the printer is using the connection that the NAS wants...
Thanks again for your help.

Help....please... ???
Really grasping at straws now...been a week and I'm going nuts.
I've reset my router to factory settings, turned off the printer, still can't connect.
I can "see" the DNS320 through browser, but can't map the drives...see notes above for error msg code.
-
Used restore point...to reset everything.
I can see the ShareCenter...but still can't map drives.
Drive showed up...but with red "x" through them.
Able to disconnect the Y drive...but can't even disconnect the Z drive.
If I try to run setup....it wants to reformat the drives.

A little more information about your setup would help us to try and help you.
How are, or were, the drives setup on your DNS-320 - RAID, stand alone etc.
What operating system are you using?
Where and how did you install your new printer?
What do the indicator lights show on the front of the DNS-320?
Since you can access the NAS via the web interface, it does not sound as if installing the printer drivers on your computer is really he problem unless those drivers changed the subnet of your router - something they shouldn't do byt can if you do not understand the available settings that networked brother printers have.
I would therefore check that the router is 192.168.0.xxx (xxx being its default - lookup the manual) and not 192.168.1.??? - to which the brother setup can change it.
If you are using windows, get something like Netscan to find out what IPs the various parts of your network have been assigned - the DNS-320 should appear there as well as your router.
If you actually have a problem with the disks of your NAS and you have no backup there MAY be a way of recovering your data provided they were not setup as RAID 0.
Another point, if you have removed the disks make sure you have labeled which slot thet were in and be sure you return them to the correct slot.

Using Windows 7, Setup using regular - standard setup.
Setup the printer as a wireless printer...it was working fine...though I have turned it off until I get the NAS resolved.
NAS now has both driver lights lit, (asleep?).
I can "see" the ShareCenter through browser...and can download files...but can't map drives.
ShareCenter shows as a Network device...but again...no mapping.
I have not removed the drives...so they are in same slot/config as when they worked.

OK, from what you say it would appear that the printer setup has changed some settings on your computer - we have had clients that have had similar problems.
It doesn't sound as if it is a NAS problem as such. Have you tried using another computer to access the NAS and if so what were the results?
If you don't have another computer you could use a Linux live CD to boot your computer and see if you can access the NAS that way. If you can then it is your windows setup that needs fixing and I can't help with that as we don't use windows.

I tried to change the IP address of the NAs....changed ending from 195 to 196.
Now I cant connect at all...any ideas how I can back out?
-
The simple answer to that is to use the reset button at the back by the lan port - paper clip required. This will reset to factory defaults but not touch the data you have on the disks.
The default IP will then be 192.168.0.32. If your router is on the same subnet (192.168.0.xxx) then you should not have any problems seeing your NAS. If your router is on an Ip like 195.168.1.xxx then you will have to set the NAS to the same subnet.
The reason you can't see the NAS on xxx.xxx.xxx.196 is most probably because that is either the IP of your router or some other piece of equipment on your network.
BTW what is the IP of your router?
-
Ivan,
Thanks - Now I'm back to seeing the NAS from browser 192.168.0.195.
Still can't map the drive(s)...royal pain.
Is there a way for me to reset everything....disconnect the NAS...and start over without loosing my data?
I filled one of my 3T drives already...so don't want to have to rebuild.
Thanks again for the reply & help.
-
Oh yea - router is: //192.168.0.1/
-
Is there a way for me to reconnect to my network without loosing my data?
Drives are formatted, one is full, and I can see NAS from browser (type in ip address).
Can NOT map drives....Please Help.
Thanks

From everything you describe it doesn't appear that the NAS is at fault - the files are there and you can see it on the network.
It looks more like your computer is at fault. Unfortunately, I know very little about win7 - we don't use windows except for a copy of xp in a vm - but I would start by looking at your firewall settings and anything else that windows update may have changed.
One other thing, if you don't have a backup of your data on the NAS then I recommend you do so, just in case.
