Hello,
We have purchased two DWL-3200 AP Devices recently.
Following are the serial numbers of the same if you need for verification:
1) SN: PVKE1BC000293 : MAC Address: B8:A3:86:94:52:45 / Firmware Version : 2.56 Patch01-rc562.tfp
2) SN: PVKE1C3000968 : MAC Address: CC:B2:55:03:2E:59 / Firmware Version : 2.56 Patch01-rc562.tfp
We need to setup Wifi Hotspots in Lobby area of our office.
We are planning to use one wired ethernet connection to one device (for Internet access through our LAN)
We want to use the second device wirelessly in WDS with AP mode.
We will be needing both the devices to be in access point mode as our lobby area is bigger.
We are trying to setup both the devices in WDS with AP mode but in vain.
According to the regular procedure we tried all the setting. Viz:
a) Same SSID on both the devices
b) Same Channel on both the devices
c) Same encryption scheme on both the devices
d) Tried with no encryption scheme on both the devices
e) All other wireless parameters set exactly similarly on both the devices
f) IP Range was set same on both the devices
g) IP address were set differently on both the devices
h) Tried with Other device added in AP list under Rogue AP detection
g) Tried all above with different Firmware from D-Link too
When we try to scan in Site Survey Box for MAC addresses, it returns no results with all the above parameters checked thrice.
If we try to detect in Rogue AP box, it shows the other device.
If we try to put the other device's MAC address under Remote AP MAC address and say apply , it returns error "Invalid MAC Address"
---------------------------------
Under some forums on internet, we have read that MAC address starting only by "00" can be used for WDS with AP mode.
If the above is the case what is the solution for such a high end device for WDS with AP.
--------------------------------
Can you please help with the setup or can you tell me the solution for the same.
Thanks in advance.
If anyone needs to make a phone call, please call me on +919423576611, +919552573567
Waiting for some positive reply eagerly.

You'll need to contact your local regional DLink support office to make sure that these support wirelessly bridging or relaying in this mode or refer to the user manual which might provide this information.

Back from spendnig 4 hours on this problem.
Tried all firmwares from 2.5 and forward......and after banging my head to both the toilet and the wall... guess the conclution?
You NEED to use Internet Explorer to modify this value, when using Internet f***ing Explorer the AP's just swallowed the WDS MAC-addresses...
I'm so pissed right now.

No other browsers like FF or Opera work to configure the AP?

It does. Used FF flawlessly all the way with no truble, that's why I didn't reflect over that it would be a browser issue. But it was :( Get me my 4h back D-link!

At least you know you can use a different browser. Is the DWL working well for you now?
-
Yes, working perfect! I'm writing from a computer connected to the "WDS slave" non-ethernet-connected AP right now ;D
-
Gkad it's working for you.
Enjoy.
