Title: Backup from NAS to attached USB Drive
Post by: smurff33 on August 30, 2012, 01:33:35 AM
I have successfully attached a 2TB usb hard drive to my nas usb port, mapped the drive to my pc and all is working good.

All i did was connect the usb drive to the usb port on the nas, dont press anything, the nas will start to flash (takes a couple of mins so dont panic) once this has a solid blue light on it, navigate to your nas (Volume_1) on your network and you will see a network drive something like USB1.1 next to volume_1, map the drive to your pc and all done...

My question is, is there a way to backup the NAS (Volume_1) to the attached USB drive, cant seem to figure this out using the web interface, i want to be able to setup auto backups without having to use a pc and leave this on while the backup happens?

Any help would be great?

Not tried myself but you could use Local Backups / Internal Backups and set source as the folder or files you want and the USB might appear in the destination although not sure myself as never used. Is there a sticky on this somewhere?
