Presently have DCS-2121 cameras that record directly to network/samba.

Now bought the DCS-932L , but to my surprise it does not support samba.

I know the d-viewcam software allows to record to a network,
but in order to do that should my pc stay on?

Meaning; should the d-view sofware run, or will it upload the settings to the camera,
which will then record directly to the network?

Unfortunately, the DCS-932L does not have the capacity to record video without the aid of a PC running the D-ViewCam software.

				that's what i figured.
i wrote do d-link (france) who say there is not intention to offer Samba in future firmware...
So i can send my cameras back... i find it very very strange, especially as it's just a software feature
 (not hardware...) :(

Some of the newer model cameras, e.g. DCS-942L, have an on-board flash memory card for internal recording. D-Link also sells the DNR-322L Two Bay mydlink™ NVR, which offers direct recording from mydlink enabled cameras without the need for a client PC.

				I'll check the 322 out.

on board recording is no use either as i want the recordings to be safe (hidden somewhere) in case of a breakin.

Here are some links to get you started:

 - D-Link USA Website - DNR-322L (http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutions/view/network-video-recorder/dnr-322l-cloud-network-video-recorder)
- mydlink Website - DNR-322L (https://www.mydlink.com/product/DNR322L)

You can download the full DNR-322L manual on the mydlink website support section.
