Title: DIR-826L and Ubuntu not playing well
Post by: drewciferpike on October 26, 2012, 01:27:24 PM
I just set up the dir-826l, and an iphone, Blackberry, and HP Win7 laptop all connect to the 2.4GHz SSID (with the lappy also connecting to the 5GHz SSID) quickly and easily.

The Ubuntu PC, however, will not connect. I have a USB G dongle, which worked perfectly fine with the 2.4GHz Linksys router I've been using up until 20 minutes ago.

Any ideas? Switch to dedicated channel? Switch to G and N, only?

Might make sure the drivers are up to day on the USB G dongle device, if any.

Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.

Does the USB G device connect to the router if you temporarily turn off wifi security to test?
