Title: question
Post by: uberrider on October 27, 2012, 10:44:25 AM
Recently purchased a DNS320 and downloaded latest firmware. Working good so far.

Just wondering when I have the NAS running p2p downloads or other functions is it ok if my computer go sleep or turn off? Will that halt the functionality of the NAS?
Currently the NAS is hooked up to the modem.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your NAS is hooked directly to your modem/router and directly talking to the outside world then you can shut down ant computers on your network without problems.

If, on the other hand, you are using your computer to do any of the connecting to the outside world then it will have to keep running to do so.

Any services/applications running on the NAS can be left running without the need for any computer to be on and this apply to NAS P2P application.

One of the primary functions (and benefits) of a NAS is to provide a storage and services that are completely independent of any PC or other networked device.
