I have trouble setting up storage and accessing storage data on router DIR-826L
Seems to recognize storage device (indicates size and amount of space used) and assigns ip address for device but no data is available.
My access device hard drive from tablet allows log in but no data found ! (USB drive was plugged into router)
Hard drive and usb storage devices are seen bur I cannot access any files music or documents on drive.
Error Permission denied
Enable Web File Access : X
Enable HTTP Storage Remote Access : X
Remote Access Port : 8181
Any help would be appreciated.
Thx

Can you access the device using a PC and Explorer or a web browser?
-
No. That is the problem. I can log in but do not see any data with web browser.
-
And there IS data files on the drive?
What FW is currently loaded on the router? What browsers are you using to access the USB drive?
-
Also after you have enabled the USB drive and enabled access functions, does the router seem to do a scanning of the drive? Do you see any activity lights on the drive?
How many files are on the drive?
Is there an option to specify a folder to use or ROOT?

Hi thx for input.
Firmware version 1.01
I have tried three drives Sandisk Cruzer 4GB , Lexar 8GB , WD MyBook 1.5 TB with similar results.
THe Sandisk is lit up all the time when in router. The WD MyBook is definitely being read and the correct
Total storage size and free space is displayed for all three drives..
All had music files and other doc files in various directories
As a more controlled test; I loaded only 5 music files in the root directory of the Sandisk thumb drive.
I turned off router and input Sandisk. After booting and logging in ; I notice the correct storage size is displayed and access Ip address is displayed i.e. 99.250.120.24:8181
I log into device on this address using Admin and my other user login with no problems; It displays heading for video music documents but there is no data and if I click on drive name; It indicates Error permission denied.
I then turned off router removed Sandisk and checked what files are now there.
The router has now added Two folders 1) Documents -subfolderrs: downloads,Pictures,Music and Videos
Subfolders contain no data.
2) Metadata - one file added categorylist.Admin.music
plus file LaunchU3.exe (Sandisk executable)
It appears that router is trying to setup directory structure and metadata directory but fails to complete it.?

I have tried the Firefox browser and the Internet Explorer browser as well as the web file access app on ipad.
Also Security virus and firewall software disabled on PC for test.

Ok, I'm going to recommend you phone in to D-Link and contact level 2 support or advanced support on this. Seems like we've done all we can to gain access to the drive, it's posting however it's not allowing correct access and displaying the files like it should.
You could try email however I might do phone to see if you get a quicker response. Keep us posted on how it goes.

I was able to contact Dlink support and they were very helpful.
To solve problem of reading data in drive; I first had to map it as shared drive.
I used command run: \\192.168.0.1 The drive showed up sda1 and I used right click to map it as drive W: I was able to access drive from other PC using same procedure. To access from ipad ; I used Shareport Mobile with my router admin login and password.
This drive is also accessible from programs that can connect to SMB (Samba) servers. I have tried Goodreader on Ipad and ES file Explorer on android with good results.
The SMB server network address is 192.168.0.1 in my case and user is admin.
