Hiya...
I'm on FIOS here. My wireless router connected to my FIOS box does not have enough signal to reach to the other side of the house. I have CAT5e all through my house, so I bought the DIR600 to extend the wireless range.
It kept intermentently dropping the signal, so I reset it completely and that didn't help.
I got on here and read the FAQ about configuring a 2nd wireless router, and set it up as an access point according to this FAQ: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0
2 isssues...
One, once I change the IP address, I can no longer acess the router. I have tried with the cables in every position to no avail. I set up the SSID to match my existing router, before I made all the FAQ changes. Everything seems to work, but I just cant get back into the router without having to do a complete reset and starting everything all over!
Suggestions?
Two, there is a setting in the manual wireless set-up that allows you to turn the router into a wireless access point. Should I change this or leave it alone? If you need a screen shot, just let me know.
Thanks in advance for the help!

After you changed the 600Ls IP address, did you try to access the management page using the NEW IP address? You have to use the NEW ip address to access the 600L.

Please post a screen shot of this. If it does have an option to change from router to AP mode, I would give this a try and see how it works. If it works for you, I'll update the sticky to reflect this new feature in the 600L.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Yes sir.
Should I be trying the new IP...
Wireless?
Both cables plugged into the LAN ports?
One (from laptop) in LAN the other in Interweb?
Just one (from laptop) in LAN?
I'd like to try and get in, without having to reset it again! :P
Thanks so much for the help. I'll get you the screen shot when I get back in.

Is there any information regarding this option in the manual? I'm not sure if this mode supports any other modes besides AP mode and I think it needs the LAN wired connection from your host router to work in AP mode. Your wireless PC should be able to access the management pages via same NEW IP address on wireless connections as well. I know I can with my APs.

No info at all in the provided manual.
It is wired to the host router with a LAN cable, per your instructions, with one of the LAN ports, NOT the internet port.
What would be the ideal way to connect? (to the router)

Should work very well using the LAN port to LAN port. I have a DGL-4500 in AP mode and works well. Just turn off everything thats not needed, stuff like Firewall, WPS, WISH and any filters since they are dependent on using the WAN port. You can keep the wireless going of course.

How EXACTLY do you turn these things off??
I also don't see any way to attach/insert the screen shot files here, can you help, or maybe give me an email address?
Thanks again...

There should be check marks on the routers web management page that you can remove that will disable these options, just need to find the options, should be under Advanced.
For posting pictures in the forum, I use Photobucket and use the {IMG} link and put that in your post here and the pictures will be displayed. Other place are imageshack and such will work too.
