Title: Can't Map a Drive Windows 8
Post by: Ill Named on November 02, 2012, 11:04:27 AM
After doing an "Upgrade" to Windows 8, I can no longer map a drive or even see it under my network. I have named it "Media Nas" and it comes up under network as just "Media". It will only let me go to the device webpage and I have verified that it is operating properly. Both My WDTV lives still see it along with my tablet and all the phones in my household. I'm sure that this is a Windows 8 problem as it does not have the proper drivers installed for it anymore when I look at it under the device manager and it won't let me update the driver to the proper one off of the D-link support site.

I'm at a loss here. Anyone?

Are you mapping to the device IP address or the IP_ADDRESS + Volume name?

You must at least map the IP Address + Volume name.  Mapping just the IP address will get you to the device, but not the storage location(s).

Please see the following FAQ entry for mapping a ShareCenter volume as a networked HDD: DNS ShareCenter - Mapping a DNS ShareCenter Device (IP vs. Volume Name) (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41845.0)
