Title: DSL-2730U and Wake-on-LAN
Post by: lucien62 on November 08, 2012, 05:15:38 AM
Hi !

I have a D-Link DSL-2730U loaded with TH_1.02 firmware.
I'm trying to wake up my home server with a magic packet from the WAN but all my attempts have failed so far. It does work when I do it from the LAN though.
My ip subnet is 192.168.3.0/24

This is what I did:

- Forward UPD port 9 to the broadcast ip address, in my case 192.168.3.255 (this value is accepted in the control panel) > Doesn't work

- Set the IP settings of my home server to automatic. Create a DHCP reservation in the D-Link and forward UDP port 9 to the reserved IP address > Doesn't work

- Place my server in the DMZ with DHCP reservation in the D-Link > Doesn't work

Any ideas ???

Could try this and see if it helps:

Then again, these Modems might not support WOL...

Let us know if it works.

Tried this method already (dhcp reservation and port forwarding) but no luck.

I would phone contact your regional local D-Link support office, advanced level 2 or higher and see if this model is supporting of WOL and if it is, get detailed information on how to set it up.

Let us know what they say.
