Title: DAP-2553 setting Hostname problems
Post by: besserpunk11 on November 14, 2012, 02:21:07 PM
Hi @ all,

for private reasons I'm currently setting up a WiFi LAN with 5 DAP-2553 Access Points - so far so good, its now working proper with one exeption - for logical allocation it would help me to set every AP a different hostname, but there is the problem, I can't - everything I write into the field "System Name" under menu item "Maintenance" > "Administration Settings" > "System Name Settings" will not take the effect of the hostname change - it remains always "dap-2553"

Have you got some idea how to do or fix it ??

4info: the AP's firmware is the latest one V.1.21

Thanks a lot in advance
Best regards Stefan

What browser are you using when you configure the DAPs?

If your using IE 8 or 9, try switching to compatibility mode. Can you effect changes using Opera or FF?

I agree, having multiple DAPs would be best if you could name them for easier identification on the network.  ::)

Hi,

I've tryed IE 9, FF and Chrome always with the same result, minutes ago I connected via Hyper Terminal Session with it it's very easy to read out all parameters - also system name settings and its value is correct but it still doesn't take effect to the host name, I think there could be a bug in the firmware or sth like that.

Regards, Stefan

You need to phone contact DLink support, level 2 or higher and see if they can help with this. Let us know how it goes.
