Title: Avoiding "wrong disk" formatting
Post by: lucypotato on April 19, 2009, 12:47:01 PM
I have a DNS-323 which currently has a single 1.5TB drive. In the future I plan to add a second, but with great dismay I've been reading about an issue some have had with the 323 formatting the existing disk when a new one is installed.
Of course, my data is backed up, but I'd resent having to restore over a TB of data for such a silly reason.
My question: Is there a method of adding the new drive that insures the original will not be re-formatted? Should I pop out the first before I add the second? I'm leery about this since (unless I've misunderstood) one poster ran into trouble doing just that.
Fortunately, I won't be needing the second for a few months... perhaps there will be an update that fixes the issue before then.
