Hello, I recently purchased a Dlink DIR-645. I'm trying to attach an external NTFS 3TB Seagate HDD to the router to be able to access my files via SharePort Plus and the DIR-645 does not recognize it. I am able to plug in a smaller 32gig thumb drive and the router is able to recognize it. I've tried everything possible to get the router to recognize the external hard drive. Is there something I am missing to have the router be able to access/recognize it?
??? ???
Thanks
Ross

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
What version of share port are you using? I use v4 from the DIR-835 web site.
What brand is the 3Tb drive? Do you know if he has any proprietary formatting? Has it been formatted with the Mfr formatting or windows formatting?
When you connected the USB drive to the router, try to power off the router, connect the 3Tb drive, then power on and then test. Is the drive being seeing under Advanced/Storage at all?
FYI,
The only size DLink supports is 500Mb officially. My WD My BOOK 2Tb (2008) USB drive is recognized ok on windows, however on Mac it fails. I had called DLink about the Mac failure and were surprised 2Tb was even being seen at all and it shouldn't be recognized or supported. I told them that the 2Tb drive was working and being recognized on my DIR-857, 825, 657 and 655 using Shareport v4 for both Windows and Mac. They said they would look into and and see.
Give Shareport v4 a test if you haven't already, if it doesn't work, I would recommend that you maybe look into using a USB to LAN adapter solution instead of using the USB port on the router.

Here is my current information:
Hardware Version: A1
Firmware Version:1.01 Fri 08 Jul 2011
Region: Delaware
Shareport version: 4.0
HDD: Seagate srd00f2 3TB NTFS with manufacturers formatting
I'm using a gateway with windows 7 as my main pc. I'll be trying the USB to LAN tomorrow. Hopefully that connection works...
Thanks for the help.

Hello rcurson,
I had the same problem. I first converted my 1TB disk from FAT32 to NTFS. DIR-645 wouldn't recognize it. After a fresh format with NTFS and Standard Cluster Size it was recognized.
Hope that helped.
