Title: DWA-182 1200AC dual band
Post by: mz3bo on December 13, 2012, 06:01:28 PM
Hi, I know this is the the right forum but it seems like this is the closest related to my DWA-182 (wich does not have a forum yet).

I have both the Usb Key and Router (ac router) and my question is, how come in the Radio Type status (when you right click on the network icon in windows), it show 802.11n ... no mather what I do, it never goes to 802.11ac... Is this something normal ?

Thanks

I presume the 182 is wirelessly connected to a router that is broadcasting AC mode?
What make and model host router is the 182 connected too?

What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only.

Hi. I've apparently got the same issue as mz3bo. As you can see on the following image:

My router is DIR-865L h/w: A1 f/w: 1.03 and on the DWA-182 i'm using f/w: 1.0
Below you can see my wireless settings:

And as you can see here, there is no mode reporting in the sofware accompanied with the DWA-182:

I used WPS when i installed the DWA-182, whitout any issues, and i rebooted both computer and router afterwards. My DIR-865L is well functioning.

And by the way if anybody know about some third party software that can detect ac modes, i would be glad to here about that too.

This maybe due to the AC mode being DRAFT and has not been Certified yet as a standard as the AC mode is very new and has not been fully standardized yet. You'll need to phone contact your local regional DLink support office and inquire about the information being seen in the status windows.

Let us know if you find out anything.

I've same issue too when I first purchase AC router and dongle, try setting 5GHz channel to manual, and set it to higher channel 100+ one.
btw, from your screenshot 11n 866, was not possible, theoretically 2-stream 11n only goes up to 300 mbps. so 866mbps is good indicator for AC, AC 1-stream max is 433, 2-stream is 866.
