My main objectif regarding DIR-505 is to run my ethernet printer wirelessly.
I set up DIR-505 as a repeater with a fix IP adress (192.168.1.22 in this case) and I connected my printer to the ethernet port. I succeeded to print during my first attempt but the day after it was no more working...
I tried to reset the device and resetup but impossible to get it work...
Is there any 'guidelines' to know to get it work ?

I'm astonished you got it to work at all - I didn't think the repeater mode used the Ethernet port but simply relayed WiFi signals. You're trying to use the 505 as a wireless bridge and I am not sure if that's one of the functions.

What make and model printer do you have?

My printer is HP Photosmart C5180

I would connect the printer via wireless to the main host router, then if your using the 505 as a repeater, the connected client device that connects to the 505 should be able to access and print to the printer thru the 505 and finally the main host router to the printer.
-
No wireless on that printer - just Ethernet - hence the question.
-
If not WiFi on the printer, I would connect the printer either to the host router if there is a host router and try to share it that way or get a USB to LAN adapter and convert the USB connection to LAN. Other option would be to get a print server device that would convert the printer to LAN and service the network using a LAN connection. HP makes Jet Direct print servers that work well for USB based printers.
Let us know how it goes.

I'd guess that the issue here is that the printer is not near the router, hence the desire to use the 505 as a bridge. As best as I can tell, the 505 can't serve that purpose.
-
Hence the mention of a print server. Let see what he responds with.
-
First of all, you are right, the printer is ethernet and not wireless and not near the main router.
The thing I can't explain is that it worked one time, this is the proof that it is possible to get it work without any add-on (USB/LAN adaptater, print server)
Sorry but I am a bit stubborn, I will try again before to invest in a printer server.
I will let you know...

This message, just to let you know that it's working again ! ;D
My (big) mistake was that I previously gave the same IP adress to the DIR-505 and to my Ethernet printer :-\
Now my set up is :
DIR-505 : 192.168.1.21
Printer : 192.168.1.22
Finally, it was not so complicated...
-
That's good to know! I'm glad to hear you sorted it out.

Wow -- this implies that Client AP Mode is available via the 505 as a Repeater.
Have to try this out with a PC with static IP instead of a printer...

I just followed through your setup using the wizard and setting the IP and subnet as required.
This worked perfectly, now I can make an even better offer to my clients.
Thank you Nicoboy for your persistence in this issue.

Glad you got it working, enjoy. ;)

I have dir 505 setup and I can access the usb drive connected to 505 via shareport utility on my ipad. However, I'm not able to access the usb printer connected to 505 from my ipad. Basically, I would like to make my usb printer a wireless printer so that I can print from ipad. My printer doesn't have lan connection or wifi connection. Any help would be appreciated.
