Title: DCS-942L is almost always in night mode
Post by: SteveL on December 24, 2012, 06:06:15 AM
My DCS-942L is almost always in night mode with IR on resulting in a B/W picture. Only when the light is very bright it changes to day mode.
This is quite annoying. Does anyone know how to adjust the day/night threshold?
Thx Steven

Unfortunately, the day/night threshold is fixed and has no end-user controls to adjust.

I have 2 DCS-942L and one DCS-932L...

they are always in night mode inside the house..so I just set IR to off and manually switch on when needed.  Hopefully they try to add the IR on/off switch on the mydlink lite app on iOS.

The ability to manually set the day/night cut-over sensitivity would prove invaluable.

When the camera switches to IR mode due to light conditions it triggers a motion event.  Does anybody know away to stop that trigger during the switch.

No known solution currently exists.

Do you know of a different dlink camera that will email video clips based on motion that does not have this problem.  Or is there a way to lock it into one mode or the other?

Good question! The DCS-2310L, DCS-2132L, and DCS-5222L were released after the DCS-942L. You may want to post the question on each of those boards to see if that anomaly was removed.

I can say with certainty that the entire DCS-9XXL line does treat day/night night/day transitions as motion detection events.

. . . Or is there a way to lock it into one mode or the other?

As for the second part of your question, I believe the DCS-942L does have an option to lock the camera in either day mode or night mode. You will need to review the options under SETUP > Audio and Video > DAY/NIGHT MODE > Day/Night mode to verify.

You can set it at auto, day only, night only, or manual (whatever that means). The main problem is you ain't got enough light in your crib?

How to get more light? I haven't left moms basement for several years and lightbulbs hurt my eyes!
