This router has been solid since we bought it, now wireless download speeds are way low.
So I flashed to 2.10NA, and I even hard reseted and again reflashed the firmware

Do I need to buy a new router now?

What was the prior version of FW that was loaded?
Link>Wireless Installation Considerations (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0)
What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/) to find out. How many?
Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.
Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition, and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Enable WMM Enable (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50738.0) Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.
Speed testing on wireless can be not accurate or the same as wired, since many variables can effect wireless testing results. Wired speed testing is preferred to get an accurate speed test.

Hi Furry,
Prior too, I had IIRC 2.01.
I have tried all of those tips from your previous post but no go
I disabled Wireless Encryption, am on CH 11 already also tried 1 . Our coredless phones are DECT 6.0 so they do not bother Wifi.
We got 2 Tvs, Blu Ray Player, 3 phones, 2 tablets, 3 Laptops
Only 1 Laptop during Testing....
Also installed a network repeater ZyXEL WAP3205 which I thought was the culprit but with it turned off and still have the same speeds(firmware and hardware reset business was done after unplugging the repeater).
There are a few wireless routers signals in reach but they are weak and on different channels
Wish is off, WPS is off, Short GI is off, WLAN Partition is off, WMM is Enabled.
And....(testmy.net went down so switched to speedtest)
Wireless

Ethernet

Very Odd thing, Not sure why this is happening. Upload speed seem untouched. Let me swap some antennas around for fun
edit: switched outer two, nothing changed

Prior too, I had IIRC 2.01. ??? I presume this is some other kind of application or code? This is not DLink official FW version I believe.
Try different speed test web sites as some do exhibit different results and test via wired connection. If you are testing speeds, ensure ALL other devices are OFF turning test time as they can effect results if they are streaming during the test.
Update WIFI adapter drivers for those that have drivers on the laptops.

IIRC is short for If I remember Correctly, yes its official D-Link FW
I have tried multiple test websites same results.
Wireless and Wired Tests are done within minutes of each other, I have done this multiple times before making a post about it and its the same no matter what time of day, so it has nothing to do with other devices. I have even tested it on factory reset which none of my devices are pairings for the routers default SSID "dlink"
So yea it seems the router most likely is flaking out.

I would down grade to either v2.03 or .07. Do a factory reset both before and after sendIng the .bin file. Let us know how that works for you.
-
Thanks for the help. It would not let me downgrade if I tried flashing 2.03 it said it would not flash it, since it was not a valid firmware something like that and 2.07 it appeared to flash but it stayed on 2.10
I decided to junk this router and so I just ordered a RT-N66U which is a nice upgrade from the 655.
Thanks again for the help

Good Luck. This is a mis-configuration of the router. Router should have been tested out of the box with out any FW updates.
-
There are always problems with any router. The newer routers handle higher bandwidth better.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using Link> teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) if your interested. Its safe and secure.

I am not sure how it could be mis-configured? Nothing changed its been the same for months, its been a solid router from 03/2011 till now, and all of a sudden download speeds have gone down considerably. Hard Resets and FW upgrade have not fix it. If it was mis configured Hard Reset should of fix it. I even put it into recovery mode and flashed the FW, still no good
I don't really have time to keep messing with it, I do kinda still believe that its some software issue but in my book multiple hard resets and what I have done is enough to say its hardware related. If there was third party firmware like tomato and DDWRT Id try it since I no longer have warranty but there is no support.

I have owned a few Routers
WRT54G (loaded Tomato)
Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH (DDWRT)
DIR 655
I am not new to messing with routers, and I am pretty sure its gimped.

Let us know how the new router works for ya. When if and when you get un busy and still interested, send me your 655 and I can check it out for ya. Good Luck. ;)
