Title: Newbie help: firmware update
Post by: Lindbloom on January 02, 2013, 01:42:40 AM
Hi guys,
I just got my DNS-320L wich is my first NAS. I have now copied my personal files to it and relize that maybe i should have updated the firmware first. Can i do that now or will it format my drives? I use 2x2TB drives in RAID1.

I got another question too. Is it possible to download torrents directly on the DNS-320L without using a computer? If it's possible maybe someone got a link to a guide? =)

Thank you //Pierre

Hi Lindbloom,
I recently had the same thoughts as you but took the plunge and updated the firmware, all my files are still fine and the GUI is quicker too  :)

Regarding the torrent question, as far as I understand, you will need some method of browsing for the torrent in the first place so you'll need a PC or other web-enabled device to find them, save them to your NAS and then add them to it's queue.

Have fun,

Updating the firmware on the DNS-320L is designed not to have any impact on stored data or HDD configuration.
