Title: ix4-200d Iomgea Storage NAS
Post by: Jason_Canada on January 02, 2013, 12:26:15 PM
Hello,

Could someone please offer some assistance.  I've recently purchased a ix4-200d Iomgea Storage NAS device. I'm not able to access it through the Storage Manager Iomega software remotely off site. My Router is a DIR-827.

I"m not certain of the port forwarding settings or how to do it exactly. the TCP and the UIDP, are they suppose to be both the same? i've tried just the UIDP to forward and still nothing.

Thanks,

Jason

Have tried using Virtual Server settings instead of PF?

No, I haven't. Hmm. Is it a simple enable? I'm a bit lost with the Navigation within the settings.

I found it - I've disabled it " Port Forwarding" Now for some reason or other in the pull down list of computers I'm not able to see my NAS drive like before? oh boy, this is frustrating.  Thank you for your help, I do do appreciate it.

I recommend reserving iP addresses ON the router for ALL devices before setting up any application rules.

Let us know if Virtual Server works for you.
I forgot, if you go back a setup PF, disable uPnP under advanced/advanced networking and test again.

Alright,

I tried both and UDP, nothing.  Still the same response.  Both ports are set to 50500, again attempted to use both.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Does the Mfr of the NAS have any specific port information regarding use and setup? You might contact them as well and see if there is any additional information.

Phone technical support will be the next step. I'ved utilized the Support Forums, however its proven to be very none proactive.

I regret purchasing this product based on the lack of 1. User end documentation and 2. Manufacturer Technical Support which is obviously not encouraged to be utilized.

I do however appreciate your assistance, it is a possible step closer. I feel most likely They will refer me to dlink.  These Self moderated forums have alot of knowledgeable people. Iomega does not show any effort in support for its newly purchased Products.

Please send a PM to JavaLawyer on these forums. Tell him I refered him to you. He's pretty good with NAS and might be able to help a bit more. Even though it's not DLink, maybe he can give some other ideas on getting it set up. The networking of NAS should be somewhat similar and most NAS networking should be standardized accept for the UI.

Any chance to returning it to place of purchase or is that well beyond that?
