Title: where to find the device password required for accessing the NAS on mydlink?
Post by: otog on January 04, 2013, 02:13:14 AM
Hi all,

I've used the CDROM and created the mydlink account w/o any problems. Also downloaded the IOS mydlink app and used it w/o any problems. I've successfully logged in thru mydlink but when it lists the NAS device it asks for a device password. What the hell is IT? I've been racking my brain the entire afternoon. The world is really cruel. Pls. help hehe.

It is the password for the "admin" account on your NAS. You may need to set one.

It is the password for the "admin" account on your NAS. You may need to set one.

The default admin username and password combination is described here:
DNS ShareCenter - Web UI Default Username and Password (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=51647.0)

If you changed and forgot your admin password, here is the procedure for resetting the password:
DNS ShareCenter - Factory Default Settings (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=51309.0)

thank you for replying but unfortunately that was not the solution to my problem

these are the things that still work with my NAS
1. login using 192.168.0.32 - OK
2. login thru www.mydlink.com - OK
2.1 upon listing NAS device(s) it asks for a device password
3. login using IOS app to access NAS - OK

for 2.1 even if i supply the password admin or for mydlink.com it still doesn't work
will try to reset maybe today and check the result

Just to get it right:

The password is NOT "admin".

The device password is the same as for the admin account on your NAS. This is when you log in through 192.168.0.32, you will need to enter a password for the System Administrator (admin) account. Use that.
If you don't have one, because the factory default is <empty>, then set one.

Are you using firefox?  That doesn't seem to work with the WebUI, the login always fails.

I had to use Chrome.
