I bought a new DIR-615 on Apr 1. It worked quite well for 3 weeks. Yesterday my computer could not detect the wireless signal and direct connection with cable did not work either. But after unplugged and repowered it became functioning normally. Today it broke again the same way. I notice that there is only the power light on when I connect the plug. There is no light for internet or wifi status. I have tried directly connect my computer to the internet modem and it works well. I think that the router might not get the input from the internet signal but I don't know how to get this fixed after tried what I thought that might be helpful such as unplugged again, reconnect every cable, etc. Could anyone tell me how to resolve this problem.
Thanks.

Have you tried reloading the firmware?
-
Can you show me how to do that?
I have tried something like download firmware upgrade but I cannot do the later process suggested on the website.
And when I tried to reinstall the device with the original CD. It was stated that I should reset the config. to the factory default in which I am not sure if pushing the reset button at the back of the device is the right thing to do.
Actually this is the first wireless router device I bought. So I have very little experience with this.

There are some FAQ's you can use to do that.
Try this.
http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=2462&question=DIR-615_revC / DIR-615 / DIR-625 / DIR-635 / DIR-655 / DIR-660

I have already tried that as I mentioned that I have downloaded the new rev_c frimware ( which I have checked at the bottom of the device ) and have settled it on my desktop.
But when I tried the later step which is
"Step 2: Once you´ve downloaded the firmware, open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape and enter the IP address of your router (192.168.0.1)."
( I had connected the router to my computer before I did that step)
It came up with no connection to the internet either via IE7 or Firefox. So I have no idea how to go further.

By the way, I have no problem when I directly connect my computer to the internet. This is how I can enter this forum at this time. So I think both are not out of order.

I suggest you contact technical support @ 877-543-5465. They will be able to walk you through upgrading the firmware.

I would attempt to do a "factory" reset of the router before upgrading any firmware. If the router is not working correctly, then there is a chance to completely "brick" the router when it "flakes" out during the updating process. I personally seen a D-Link router that required a few factory resets before it stabilized.
Also, if you do do a firmware update, connect an Ethernet cable from the PC to the router. It might not be stated up front, but never update via the wireless network as the update will "break" the wireless networ and may reset the configuration back to factory default (thus "destroying" the wireless network.)
