Title: Cannot connect to HOMEGroup or Network Computers
Post by: KE2QR on January 28, 2013, 12:20:19 PM
I am using the DAP-1360 in repeater mode. When my laptop is connected to my network via a wireless connection using the DAP-1360 I cannot access my Homegroup or Network computers. I am running Windows 8. If I break that connection and connect wireless to my DIR-655 (on the same Network) I can connect to those computers (they are running windows 7).
They same is true when I use my iPod with SONY Media Remote.  I can only control my HDTV and Home Theater System when all the devices are connected via wire or wireless via my first router (connected to my cable modem) - DIR-655.

Connections to the internet are working. It almost appears that I have to open some ports but I don't know where to do that on the DAP-1360.

I don't think there are any ports needed to be configure since ports are for WAN to LAN connects and not Wireless connections on the same LAN side.

I would presume that if the 1360 was running in Repeater mode that there shouldn't be anything blocking data traffic between the 1360 and the 655. The only thing that comes to mind is WLAN Partition and if it's enabled and available as an option on the 1360, this could restrict visibility of the 655 from clients on the 1360. However being in Repeater mode, nothing should be restricted as it's just re-broadcasting whats coming and going from the 655.

Is DHCP server still enabled on the 1360. Also are you using static or DHCP as the Connection Type? I would presume that it should be DHCP. I would also presume that DHCP Server should be disabled on the 1360.
