Title: DCS-920 error code (flashing light)
Post by: S2000 on January 28, 2013, 02:43:14 PM
I have a new, old stock DCS-920 that is not working. I set the IP and upgraded the firmware (wired) and set up WiFi. Everything was fine until I moved the camera to the area to monitor and it quit responding. The front light (set off when in use) flashes 15 short flashes and 1 long over and over when the camera is powered on. I tried reseting the camera (push and hold reset for 10 or more seconds). I reconnected to wired Ethernet, tried the default IP, checked the DHCP server and it had not gven out an IP to the camera. The wired port lights up the switch port it is plugged into.

My older DCS-920 sometimes quits responding and has to be power on reset. The last time it was doing 3 short, 1 long.

So I assume the flashes tell what the error is but the are not listed in the manual nor did a search turn anything up.

Help or suggestions?

Thanks

I hope this could help someone in the future. I recently had same issue of continuous green light with no IP but the LED on my router shows activity. You could do this at your own risk and void the warranty but if you are not a DIY person I would suggest you send it back to dlink. Cost of shipping is enough to buy a new dcs920 for me.

Make sure the power cable is unplugged from the camera.

1. Unscrew the camera (4 screws at the back)
2. Gently open it to get to the chip and lens
3. Unscrew the lens (a screw at the top right corner)
4. Gently remove the lens. Be cautious with the pins on the left connecting to the board
5. Power up the camera without the lens, reset and pack it back.
6. Run the setup wizard and continue

This is no official instruction and is done at your own risk. It worked for me.
