Title: Port Forwarding
Post by: Goldfinch on February 10, 2013, 03:34:09 PM
Hello,

I just bought a DCS-5222L and have spent most of the weekend troubleshooting various things to get it to work.

I've installed it inside my business network behind a firewall.

I can now get live video from the camera within the network by going directly to the camera's IP address in my web browser, and it is working well. I still have a few problems though which I will post as separate questions, starting with ...

Port Forwarding!

From what I've read, that is the only way I can register on mydlink so I can use the iPhone app to view the video feed remotely. So how the heck do I do it? I can't find a clear, simple tutorial anywhere. I think I need to do it on the firewall, not the router.

Any suggestions? Please don't send me to that portforwarding.com website, it doesn't have my firewall and  it doesn't tell me which ports I should be opening, with which protocols enabled, etc. to get this specific camera working.

Thanks!

Goldfinch

Trying to enabling port Forwarding to view my new IP Camera remotely.  I can view no problem from my home computer....not not from my work computer.   I keep tweaking the Port Forwarding and checking that the port is opened....and 3rd party sites confirm the port is open but i can never view the IP camera from outside the house.   Any Suggestions?  Cant seem to get it to work. Thanks!

You might need a S on the http (https:)  ..

I think at 1 point I needed it, then I didn't...

"moving pictures"

http://YOURWEBIPADDRESS/video/mjpg.cgi?profileid=1

to find your outside web IP address - just google "what is my IP?"

You'll need your admin password too to login.
