Title: wds
Post by: tilithrim on April 29, 2009, 08:48:16 AM
After buying my router, I did a quick google search about wds at the router. Found it's only with firmware 1.04 and before. I would like to use wds since powerline networking and runing a network cable straight between the routers isn't feesable and it's just easier not switching my connections between the two routers. Could some please help me get to firmware 1.04 or know if there's another way. my router is hardware revision a4 and last time i tried downgrading firmware the lowest it would accept was 1.20. any help or info would be appreciated

You are correct. There is no more WDS on that product.

Hardware A4 does not allow downgrade below 1.20. No way to fix that besides trying to find a A1-3 model to replace your A4. Lower firmwares do not support the changed hardware inside.

I could be mistaken but I think I read somewhere that the A3 couldn't go below 1.10 firmware.

Very well possible. A3 also contains different hardware (switch) compared to A1/A2 (difference: color LEDS). Since firmware is the control engine, you cannot 'direct' hardware that has been inserted later on.

But it is doubtfull why you should go back to those early firmwares since performance does not improve by going back  :)

thanks for all the replys. I guess I'll just keep switching my connection between the two routers.
