Hi. I am using the 26 character WEP code. Was wondering if it's possible to setup a short password or PIN number. Been troubleshooting problems with a wireless blue ray player that has required multiple resets. Entering the wep code with the remote is driving me nuts!

Yea, don't use WEP. Use WPA, will be much more compatible with new devices, and any 8 character password will work.

I use 3 characters on my routers

OK, so I have to switch to WPA, not possible to add a "nickname" or "pin" to current setup? I hesitate becuase there are a lot of devices interacting nicely now and I'm sort of afraid to mess with it! I think the problem I'm having with the Blue Ray player was caused when I did an override on the default DNS address! Everything else seems to be working OK but probably not a coincidence the Blue Ray quit working the night I made the change!!
Thanks a lot!

WEP does not allow for short character PWs. Only WPA and WPA2.
I would turn off all the wireless devices. Change the settins on the router to Auto WPA or WPA2 and TPIK and AES and input a 3 character PW. Something simple. Appy the settings and reboot. After the router comes to ready, turn ON 1 wireless device and see how it connects. It should connect.
If so, turn on the next one.

You don't want WEP. You just don't. WEP is easy to break (hack), slower (software encryption), and harder to remember (must use Hex rather then normal characters). Im pretty sure it defaults to WPA, so did someone install this for you? Let me guess, your ISP? For some reason policy is still WPA because older devices, and were talking early Wifi-G had difficulty with it. But any device since MS Vista hit the market will work fine with WPA. Some devices don't even work with WEP, like older Ipod Touch's.
But yea, takes Furry's advice.
