Title: Which WD 2TB Drives Work
Post by: dallen on February 13, 2013, 09:37:23 AM
I am wanting to upgrade a drive in my DNS-343 to 2TB and I prefer to use WD drives because they have never let me down (knock on wood).  I have read some postings where people have had issues with EARS models of WD drives.  If you have had success using WD 2TB drives in the DNS-343 would you mind posting the model in a reply.  Thanks you in advance.

I do not use RAID.  Just standard drive configuration.

I don't want to hang my hat on the following suggestion, but it's a place to start. You may want to look at the DNS-323 board and see what HDDs DNS-323 owners are using. The DNS-323 user base is substantially larger (and more active) than the DNS-343. The two models were released at around the same time and behave very similarly, especially if we're just talking about Standard Configuration.

I have 2 DNS343 devices. Each has 4 WD2002FAEX HDDs in a RAID5 config.
Whilst the WD Black drives are more expensive, they do carry a 5 year warranty.
Worth the investment? Definately.
