Title: 5GHz band not operational?
Post by: mac on April 30, 2009, 08:55:41 PM
Hello, First post here and I hope someone can help me with a problem.  I have used D-Link products in the past but have been using Linksys for the past couple of years.

Anyway, I just purchased a DI-825 along with a DWA-652 and DAP-1522.  I have both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands enabled on the DI-825 but my DWA-652 only detects the 2.4GHz band (using either the D-Link or Windows connection manager).

As a test, I disabled the 2.4GHz band in the DI-825 UI, rebooted the router and now when I attempt to launch the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard" on the DI-825 UI Setup tab it gives me an error dialog that reads "Please enable wireless first.".

Do I have a defective DI-825?

Anything I can try short of opening it up and voiding the warranty?

Thanks in advance,
mac

DWA-652 is 2,4 GHz Band only. It can not detect 5 GHz wireless  :(
DAP-1522 in Client-Bridge mode will connect to either 2,4 or 5 GHz wireless.

Thanks.  As you duly noted, and as I discovered, this is quite true.  I wanted some way to confirm that the router was working properly in dual band mode before opening the DAP-1522 and I thought switching the 2.4GHz band off in the router's UI was a valid test.

Anyway, I did end up hooking up the DAP-1522 and it detected and connected @ 5GHz.  No problem after all!

Thanks,
mac
