Title: PIR detection
Post by: RYAT3 on March 12, 2013, 06:03:07 PM
Sensitivity set to  "high" with latest firmware...

today, with room temp maybe 73F... outside was 57F perhaps..

I was totally able to enter my entrance and blow by w/o motion detection into a room.

I guess perhaps my coat was near 70F?...but my head has to be at least 98F???  ::)

I did get picked up when I crossed out of my other room and removed my coat, when PIR kicked in.

Now that I have my 5222l set in a spot that works mostly well, I might be able to add video detection, and not pick up sun/cloud activity...

Are you using the latest firmware?

INFORMATION
Camera Name   DCS-5222L
Firmware Version   1.01
Firmware Build Number   1522

This webpage INCORRECTLY states no downloads:

http://www.dlink.com/us/en/support/product/dcs-5222l-pan-tilt-zoom-cloud-camera

If you go here,

https://www.mydlink.com/support#DCS-5222L

scroll to the right, select the DCS-5222L

The download link is there...

Firmware

v1.01
Note: When upgrading firmware, make sure you also download the latest Setup Wizard if you need to set up and configure your camera again.

My laptop didn't have enough speed I guess to update the firmware... my desktop did.  I think you have to unzip the file first before proceeding.

When I bought the camera, it had the latest firmware (v1.01 / 1522).
I tought it is a hardware problem, but I can see some more topic with the same issue.
So your device is fine, and not sending pir alerts every 15 minutes?
Thank You for your answer!

Are you FTP'ing photos?  That's where I did have the problem.  I haven't tried photos since upgrading, and switching to PIR only.

Thank You, but I use email function if motion detected only with pir (medium sensitivity) inside a room. Everything else is working, but I get false alarm/email in every 15 minutes. So I ignore them, by now I am immune to it, I can not react if something really happens. :(
Please somebody give me advice, should I sell this camera and I buy another reliable product?
There will be new firmware or this is a hopeless thing?
Thx!
