Title: DIR-615 K1 - Firmware Upgrade Issue
Post by: swan2elliah on March 19, 2013, 02:07:48 PM
Hi to all forum members!
It were some bugs into the firmware and I decided to upgrade it. I've downloaded the latest DIR-615 K1 firmware from ftp.dlink.com and I've uploaded it into the router's web ui via IE8 browser. Then it rebooted itself. After that it was no web panel, no ping to 192.168.0.1, the led of wireless connection wasn't active anymore.

I've tried to do the actions from JavaLawyer advice:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=31956c3405dcd393021cf2dd83b3d16d&topic=11596.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=31956c3405dcd393021cf2dd83b3d16d&topic=11596.0)

There were probably no effect.

Also, I've tried the next sequence of actions (from another topic of forum):
- to set IP of machine to 192.168.0.1/24;
- hold "reset" button and plug it on;
- wait 15 sec;
- release the reset button;
- goto in browser to http://192.168.0.1/ and upload an image of firmware;

In this case (after waiting over 15 sec) I was unable to open in browser this url: http://192.168.0.1/
and there were no ping to 192.168.0.1.

I've bought this router from hands, and I'm not able to bring it to the service center by the warranty. So I've decided to look inside it.

There is a serial flash chip (MX25L3206EM2I-12G):
http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/MX25L3206EM2I-12G/1092-1132-ND/2744815 (http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/MX25L3206EM2I-12G/1092-1132-ND/2744815)

Is it able to be flashed using simple SPI flashing tool by that firmware from ftp.dlink.com,
or it is able to be solved in a simpler way?

I'm from Ukraine. It belongs to russian website (and forum), but
http://forum.dlink.ru/ (http://forum.dlink.ru/)
is unavaible for some time.

I'm sorry, the firmware was grabbed from here:
http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-615/Firmware/RevK/K1/20130214_1229_DIR_615K1_1.0.18_sdk-master.bin (http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-615/Firmware/RevK/K1/20130214_1229_DIR_615K1_1.0.18_sdk-master.bin)

I recommend that you get either the original shipping version or lastest version from this site:
http://www.dlink.ru/ru/products/5/1665.html (http://www.dlink.ru/ru/products/5/1665.html)

Then attempt this:
Emergency Recovery Mode (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=44909.0)

If the above process fails, then you'll need to RMA this unit back to DLink:

Thank you!
I've tried to boot it up in Emergency Recovery Mode several times and all attempts were failed.
There is no D-link service or it's partners in our city.

You need to phone contact one of the contact numbers in the list:
http://www.dlink.ru/ua/contacts/ (http://www.dlink.ru/ua/contacts/)

Try the Russian Main Web site as well.

Good luck.
