Title: Change Administrator's Login Name
Post by: Serville on March 22, 2013, 05:21:10 PM
I notice firmware v. 1.13 & 1.14 does not allow the user to change the Admin username.  Only the default "admin" is allowed.  The option for administrator's login name  in the Maintenance tab is greyed out with "admin" already filled-in.

In the factory's installed firmware v1.0.0 , this option is not greyed out, and we could change this to whatever name.
I found this out after I wanted to change the Login name in firmware 1.14, but could not .
But I know this could be done sometimes in the past, since my current username with firmware 1.14 is a customized username "DIR600L".  After some experiments, I found out that I made the change in firmware v1.0, saved settings, upgraded firmware to 1.14 & load firmware settings from v1.0.   It seems to keep my customized admin username "DIR600L", although I still couldn't change it now from within firmware 1.14.

Just sharing info if all you want is a customized username (from the default "admin")

I presume for security reasons and security standards, the admin name can not be changed as this could cause problems later on thus why admin is always static.
