Title: D-Link DSL-2741B Port Forwarding problem
Post by: LostClown on April 06, 2013, 06:16:18 AM
So far I'm disappointed with this product. I picked D-Link after carefully reading many reviews and because of recommendations from my friends. No other router/modem so far made my life as miserable as this. Well lets talk about the problem...

It is impossible to port forward ANY ports whatsoever. The settings for the port forwarding in modem advanced tab saves nicely. But that's all it does, it just sits there claiming that the ports are open when it actually doesn't open any of them.
What's more the DMZ (which should put me outside of the modems restrictions) doesn't work either.

I've already checked with my ISP and we figured out that the problem isn't on their side as port forwarding on my old modem works perfectly and they didn't register any problems with my connection.
I've tried every solution for port forwarding I could find on internet or this forum (Spent entire day doing it). None of them worked.
I tried to set "Application Rules" and "QoS Setup" for ports as well, both without success.
The only fix I found that worked for somebody else with similar problem was update of his firmware. Which I'd rather not do because doing so voids my warranty o_O

My modem is D-Link DSL-2741B F1 revision
My firmware Version: EU_1.00
I'm in Czech republic

Thanks in advance for answer.

Updating FW does not void warranty if you upgrade using DLinks OEM FW.
http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/support/product/dsl-2741b-adsl2plus-modem-with-wireless-n-300-router?revision=deu_revf (http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/support/product/dsl-2741b-adsl2plus-modem-with-wireless-n-300-router?revision=deu_revf)

I recommend that you phone contact your local regional DLink support office and inquire about FW updates, which one is needed, and port forwarding configuration information and they'll help you with this information and get your modem configured.

Let us know how it goes.

Good Luck.
