Fellow members - help, please.
Just purchased a D-Link 505.
Connected a CAT5 cable from LAPTOP to 505. The 505 unit does not assign a 192.168.0.x IP address to my laptop. I cannot get to the home page of http://dlinkrouter
Ping the IP of 192.168.0.1 and it times out. The windows Laptop shows "UNIDENTIFIED NETWORK".
Set the switch on side to ROUTER mode. Same story - no 192 IP address assigned. also tried repeater mode.
Did a 15 sec factory reset with paperclip - the 505 reboots and the same story - no IP no connection to unit possible.
Tried to use a static IP 192.168.0.12 on Windows laptop to see and no way still no connection to 505.
I can see and connect to the 505 via Wi-Fi fine, but cannot get to the D-Link web config page via Wi-Fi either.
Using Firmware v1.03, as I cannot do an update unless I can get the CAT5 cable connected.
Tried my other Windows 7 PC - same story.
Any ideas ?

Can you access the 505 on a wireless device. Using QRS app on a mobile phone?
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.
Check cable, swap out to be sure.
