Mac OS X 10.6.8 iMac (16GB, 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7) copying across a GB LAN to a DNS-321 (A3, firmware 1.03) with all services less networking turned off is seeing write speeds of 3 to 4 KB peaking at 9 KB.
I have seen speeds, yesterday, of 10-12MB/s, after turning iTunes off on the DNS, but now I'm back to complete s**t.
I have tried turning web sharing on (on the iMac), no luck. I have tried the nsmb.conf (again, on the Mac), which only makes my DNS-321 share inaccessible. After rebooting both machines I sometimes see decent (~10MB/s) write speeds, but this lasts a few minutes, then I'm back to KB/s again.
Any suggestions? (At this rate I will long since have died before I copy my music collection to the DNS). I know the DNS-321 is slow, but this is ridiculous. Also, I get the feeling this is a Mac.
Thanks much,
David
