Hello I want to create folders to share and access from work and other places, is there a simple, baby step guide please. Thank you for reading this. Yes I have the manuals, no I do not understand what it says. network/ftp experience = nil, I can ride a bike and dig the garden, any and all hints tips and pointers very gratefully appreciated. You do realise you are going to learn about networking don't you?
You also need to define what and how you want to access your DNS-320 outside of your local network as this will mean doing things with your modem/router to allow access to and from your NAS. You will also either need a fixed IP address or need to sign up with a DDNS service provider.
The other thing I note is that you have not said if you have the unit already working on your home network or if you need to set that up as well.
The more information you can give about what you want to do and how much you know about networking the easier it will be for us to help you - it is no good us telling you to do something and you end up scratching you head saying 'what are they rabbeting on about'.

Thank you for your reply.
I have set up the DNS-320, it is connected to my router and I have a dyns service name attached to the unit for access across the internet. (I have not seen this yet, but my son tells me he can see my files/folders.
My main question is: Do I move files onto the NAS with the Ajaxplorer or create folders in explorer and move files into them.
My second question is: Can I monitor who has or is accessing the Nas.
My third question is: Can I give limited access to a specific folder for a specific user.
Any information that you may have will be very much appreciated.
Thank you again.
